Voima is a monthly Finnish paper focusing on autonomous culture, environmental issues and radical politics. It is available free of charge in 600 different venues across Finland. Even though its editorial is relatively small, it reaches 90 000 monthly readers with its online magazine fifi.voima.fi, audio journalism and book publishing activities.

Voima challenges the question of what independent, community/activism-based publishing and journalism can – or should – be if it aims to both stay independent and gain audiences. It asks how to make critical theory and critical cultural discussion open to a public that is wider than in most cases of independent publishing.

It is mostly funded by advertisements, which paradoxically seems to be most effective way to stay journalistically independent. This model also allows paying for the contributors. Even though it works as a corporation, it does not produce surplus for its owners but instead all the funds are used for making the paper.
